JULES VERNE

The Man who shaped the Future

This page is dedicated to Jules Verne and his many works of literary art.

Jules Verne in his lifetime wrote some 54 major novels related to the subject of science fiction. These works of great art have transcended time itself making the academic world as we know it far richer. Taking from his unique observations of the industrial revolution as a foundation he added a vision of the future so vibrant as to overcome the very fabric of time itself. This master writer really invented the future many assume was created only in this century. Remarkably his "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" predicted humans living and working for prolonged periods in the deep. As did his "From the Earth to the Moon" which amazingly predicted space travel and later a landing on the moon. Some may have not considered his "Around the World in 80 days" which must have fueled many minds in there race to achieve international travel. (He might have very well been the first to put pen to paper and describe eco-tourism. Although this could be a stretch.) This web page will try to shed some light on his many wonderful literary creations. Note that this is a Jules Verne home page where he will always be welcome. It will be updated regularly evolving to include as much as is possible.

References to kiwis in the works of Jules Verne from Akiko New Zealand

This site is a translation of one of Jules Vernes works that wrote about kiwis from a 18th century perspective. (Les Enfants du Capit.) It is presented as food for thought so one does not take too seriously the works of a vivid imagination.
